The IBFed represents more than 18,000 banks with 275,000 branches, including around 700 of the world’s top 1000 banks. These banks alone manage assets of over $31 trillion. The membership of the IBFed comprises of national and regional banking associations, through their Chief Executives. The membership includes banking associations from USA, UK, China, Germany,
India, Russia, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, France, Spain and the European Banking Federation. The Banking Association SA is a full member, being the only African representative. The IBFed is given an audience by the Basel Committee, G20, Financial Stability Board and other multilateral organisations. The Banking Association SA advocates and lobbies through the IBFed on matters pertinent to the SA banking industry.
