Mr. Cas Coovadia, MD of the Banking Association South Africa, will discuss the importance of the commitments by South African business leaders and establishment of a high level forum of the country’s top CEOs, to work closely with Government and labour to help accelerate higher economic growth, job creation and strengthen public finances. This includes the noteworthy role that business has played this year in working with the Minister of Finance and Government more broadly to address the structural issues hampering the economy, which can be remedied to put South Africa on a high growth path. Moreover, he will highlight what business can do to increase confidence in the country and demonstrate that local businesses are beginning to invest. Mr. Coovadia will also discuss the key sectors impacted on by low growth and what can be done collectively by business in partnership with Government and labour to mitigate these challenges and enable a conducive environment for long-term growth and development.

Mr. Coovadia’s insights and perspectives will draw on the learnings and lessons from the South African banking industry’s participation in the Minister of Finances’ roadshow with international investors and ratings agencies.
