  • The chief executive officers of Nedbank, ABSA, First National Bank, Standard Bank, Investec and Capitec Bank, who represent South Africa’s six big banks.
  • Two chief executive officers to represent international banks operating in South Africa
  • Two chief executive officers to represent the other South African banks
  • The Managing Director of BASA

Michael Sassoon resigned as a member of the Board effective 30 November 2023 and replaced by Kennedy Bungane from the African Bank.
Kweku Bedu-Addo resigned on the BASA Board of Directors effective 31 December 2023 due to the two-year rotation implemented at the International Banking Association (IBA).
Longjian Chen, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of China and in his capacity as the Deputy Chairman of the IBA was appointed to the BASA Board of Directors effective 1 January 2024 as a replacement of Kweku Bedu-Addo.

Board Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is a sub-committee of the Board that assists it in executing its fiduciary responsibilities. The committee is delegated some of the power and authority of the Board, in the management and affairs of BASA, between Board meetings.
